Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Do I need to attend all the tryout dates?

It is not mandatory do attend all tryout dates, but you are more than welcome to attend all if you can.

  1. What do I need to bring to tryouts?

You will need to bring all three registration papers completely filled out, two copies of your birth certificate, one copy of your report card, and a basketball.

  1. Is there a fee to tryout?

No, but you should be prepared to pay your startup fees at this time.

  1. Is this an AAU Team?

Somebody please tell me, what is an AAU Team?  We are a basketball club that instructs, prepares, and competes in local, regional, and national tournaments.  We have competed in AAU sanctioned tournaments in the past, but are not limited to just AAU tournaments.

  1. Do I need to pay all fees at the start of the Session?

All fees are due in full at the start of each session unless a payment plan has been arranged with Coach K in advance.

  1. How do I purchase Illinois Warrior apparel?

Sometimes we have apparel available at practice sessions, but the easiest way to purchase is to go online at www.illinoiswarriors.com and place your order from the apparel page.

  1. What if we cannot make a practice or tournament?

Conflicts arise all the time.  If you are unable to make a practice or tournament, either e-mail (rkabellis@sbcglobal.net) or call (815-735-9848) Coach K.  The schedule is available months in advance, so I require the same consideration for planning purposes (practices, one day notice, tournaments, three weeks notice).

  1. Do all athletes play equal amounts of time?

No, playing time is earned through hard work and dedication to the program.  Please refer to our rules and guideline section of the website.

  1. Do you help with the recruiting process for HS athletes?

I am actively working to get all our athletes a chance to play in college.  I have tons of college coaches contacts to help every athlete for any division (DI, DII, DIII, NAIA, JUCO).  See if your HS Coach does as much as I do for your son or daughter?

    10.  How do the athletes get to the tournaments?

Every athlete is responsible for their own transportation to each and every tournament.

They are also responsible for their hotel if we are out of town.  If you need to get your son or daughter a ride to the tournament, please go to the directory and ask a parent on your respective team.
